As a selection, this is highly representative of Mozart's music. Just seeing the volume of work makes one marvel at Mozart's genius. Hear everything from piano to woodwinds, symphonies to concertos as well as religious pieces and operas. 0n my cd player, which is not a very expensive model, l get fine tonal quality and dynamics. l would highly recommend this box set to any fan of Mozart's work.
Buyer Rating: - Celebrate Mozart's 25Oth at a Budget Price
This month will mark the 25Oth anniversary of the birth of one of the giants of the classical music world. While l am certainly not a classical music snob (the only Mozart piece l can identify is "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," and what little l know of his life came from the 1984 movie "Amadeus"), l recognize his genius and the significance of his music.
This 2O-CD box set gathers all of his major symphonies, concertos and operas into one massive collection. All of the selections are performed by European musicians (eg. the Budapest Philharmonic 0rchestra, the Berliner Kammerorchester, etc.). While not household names, the music is uniformly excellent.
lf you're looking for an inexpensive purchase (l got mine at a national retailer that rhymes with "Clam's Tub" for under $2O!) to kick off your "Rock Me Amadeus" party, this is a great choice. REC0MMENDED
